Who needs Prism/Prisma/Prizma (what ever the hell it’s called), when your car looks quite angular anyway.

That’s such a good looking car. Is that a Passat underneath? I’m not well versed in Skodas or SEAT.

Essentially yes. Same MQB platform, etc...
While in the U.K. the Passat is only available in diesel form, in Europe the Passat and Superb are available in the same engines of both petrol and diesel form.

Still jealous of the Superb, it’s so pretty. (that color is perfection)

Lol. Thanks mate. She is a beauty.
After a few days with the Hyundai i30 the other week, I was very grateful to have her back.
After cleaning a colleagues mother’s car she looked at Piglet and said how good looking the car was and asked what it was. Which always makes me smile like a proud father.
HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles

I’m dead serious, if VAG ever brings Škoda to the U.S. I will be first in line to buy.

Cheers mate.
Not bad for a Passat sized car for Golf money with a 1.4TSi ACT engine.

Looks better than a Passat for sure. Also we don’t get Kool Kolorz in the states on anything like a Passat — just Prius C’s, Mirages, maybe a Fiesta sedan.

It might take a while for that to happen but I think it’ll be a pleasant surprise when they do, especially the car the cars are coming along with new models like the Kodiaq.

It might be a good way compensate for VW’s sales trouble/fallout from the emissions scandal. Americans wouldn’t realize they’re the same car.

I certainly does.
The Sportline spec, gets black accents and grille and is available in a rediant gold yellow metallic.
Which I like very much.

It’ll cost a lot of money for VAG to get these crash tested, etc...
But if they do, they’d do well to take the Rapid Spaceback, Octavia hatchback and estate, Suberb hatchback and estate and the new Kodiaq.
I don’t think the Citigo 3 and 5 door, Fabia hatchback and estate, Rapid hatchback or the Yeti would do well. The Yeti needs a revamp which it’s due after getting it’s facelift , while back.

I wonder if they could appeal that, since they’re just badge engineered versions of already tested cars.

I can’t see how they could. Though the underpinnings are the same they are more than just rebadges but very different engineered cars.
Otherwise Ford would have the 3 door Fiesta, the Mondeo/Fusion estate.
North America doesn’t even get the same Passat the rest of the world gets.
U.S. requirements require even an almost full crash test for the same car if a new engine is offered. Car companies from outside the U.S. need to be assured they’ll get the level of sales to justify it or they simply won’t bother.
Thank goodness, once they are safely 25 year old they will be safe to drive on U.S. roads.

I wish I lived in Europe so I could pay more attention to VW’s offering around the continent.
Speaking of that, can you hop the channel and buy a car sold somewhere else and then bring it back to the UK and register it? Say you wanted a petrol Passat, could you go buy one and bring it back?

VAG has quite a list of cars, some available in some E.U. Conutries and not others because they probably won’t sell as many which is why we don’t get the Skoda Superb 1.8TSi, as the 1.4TSi is a fantastic economical car, the 2.0TSi has more performance but likely the biggest sellers will be the 1.6 and 2.0TDis.
Yes. No problem at all. You can import pretty much any car you want. If it’s not a regular car sold here or form of such as a VW Passat with a petrol engine (both of which are safe and okay) then you’ll need to get it inspected by VOSA (vehicle inspectorate) who will check to see if it’s safe and okay to register with the DVLA (U.K. DMV).
Invariably the things required are to alter the timing for U.K. Fuels, adding a rear fog light, separating American rear lights (where the tail light is also the rear indicator on some U.S. Cars), altering the beam pattern of the headlights if the car is LHD to make it compatible for left hand side driving so as not to dazzle on coming cars.
If the car is from outside the E.U. You may need to pay tax on the vehicle if you don’t keep it for longer than a certain period.
You can buy LHD and RHD cars new an used in the U.K. And LHD and RHD cars again both new and used from abroad.
All in all we’ve got things pretty sweet in the U.K. When it comes to cars like some Japanese cars that are only for the Japanese market being offered by U.K. Dealers such as the Subaru Levorg.
